5,000 Mask Challenge Complete!

In 4.5 months, we are beyond excited to announce we have surpassed our goal of making and donating 5,000 masks to healthcare workers across Southern California! As of today, we officially have donated 5,125 masks! 

See some pictures of the healthcare workers wearing the masks we've donated to them. One of the facilities we donated to had this to say, "Your sewists and volunteers are the best! Please send our thanks to them - we appreciate the love, care, and muscle that goes into each mask. These masks are popular for many reasons amongst our staff and colleagues. (1) It fits your face comfortably (2) Easy to adjust without hurting your ears (3) You can bake them to sterilize them!"

It's hard to describe the rollercoaster that we went through to make this possible, but it definitely wouldn't have been possible without the support of a great San Diego community, and a great group of family and friends. From raising over $5,000 within a week of announcing our challenge in April, to designing the first prototypes, cutting material and bagging kits with groups of volunteers, teaming up with Project Masks to collaborate with sewists and distribution, so many things came together with a great group of people trying to make an impact by protecting those healthcare workers that put themselves at risk for us.

It is amazing to see how hard everyone worked to complete this challenge! From our first mask donation at the beginning of May until today, being able to make and distribute over 5,000 masks in a few months is a feat we and all of our volunteers are very proud of. Thank you again to each of you that has donated or volunteered your time and effort to make this possible!

There are still more masks being made, and we believe we will be able to donate almost 6,000 when all are accounted for. We will send a final count when we have it in the coming weeks, but for now, this challenge is complete and we look forward to the next one after celebrating this one!
